Departure from Cusco:
We begin with hotel pickup between 6:20 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., then head to the heart of the Sacred Valley in a comfortable tourist vehicle, accompanied by a professional bilingual guide.
First Stop: Chinchero
Visit the picturesque town of Chinchero, where you’ll see a colonial church built on Inca foundations, and stop by a textile center where local families will demonstrate traditional weaving techniques using natural dyes.
Second Stop: Maras
Next, we visit the stunning Maras Salt Mines, a network of over 3,000 salt pools that have been in use since pre-Inca times. Learn about the traditional salt harvesting process and enjoy incredible photo opportunities.
Third Stop: Moray

What makes this "VIP" compared to other tours?
The "VIP" label refers to the completeness of the itinerary rather than luxury amenities like champagne. Most standard tours force you to choose: either the "Classic" route (Pisac + Ollantaytambo) or the "Alternative" route (Maras + Moray). This tour breaks that compromise by giving you everything in a single day. It also typically uses smaller, more agile transport (like a Sprinter van) rather than a large bus to navigate the winding roads faster.
In what order do we visit the sites?
The route usually runs "clockwise" to beat the crowds. You start high in Chinchero for the weaving demonstration and church, then cut across the pampa to Maras and Moray before lunch. In the afternoon, you visit Ollantaytambo at the far end of the valley. The final stop is Pisac on the return leg to Cusco. This order is strategic: it puts you at the popular Pisac ruins late in the afternoon when the morning tour buses have already left, giving you a quieter experience.
What is the lunch situation?
To save time for sightseeing, this tour does not include a long, sit-down buffet restaurant meal. Instead, you enjoy a scenic picnic lunch outdoors. The menu typically includes Andean sandwiches (chicken or vegetarian), fruit, snacks, and drinks. This "al fresco" dining allows you to eat while enjoying the view of the glaciers, rather than staring at the walls of a restaurant, and keeps the momentum of the day going.
Can I leave the tour early to take a train to Machu Picchu?
Yes, but with a caveat. Since Ollantaytambo is the 4th stop (usually mid-afternoon), you can choose to end your tour there and stay at the train station instead of continuing to Pisac. However, you would miss the final site (Pisac). This is still a very popular option for travelers who want to see Maras and Moray on their way to Machu Picchu but don't want to hire a private driver. Just let the guide know in the morning so they can ensure your luggage is accessible.
Do I need to buy tickets in advance?
You do not need to buy them weeks in advance, but you need to be prepared to pay on the day. You will need the Boleto Turístico (Tourist Ticket) for Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac. A "Partial Circuit III" ticket covers all of these except potentially Pisac (check the current circuit rules, as Pisac is often on a different partial ticket than Maras/Moray). Often, the Full Boleto Turístico (valid for 10 days) is the safest bet for this specific combo. Additionally, the Maras Salt Mines require a separate cash entrance fee (approx. S/20) paid directly to the community at the gate.
