After successfully completing the high-altitude circuit, return to Pacchanta for a hearty, homemade lunch prepared with local ingredients. The afternoon offers an optional, well-deserved reward: soak in the natural hot springs with the breathtaking, icy backdrop of the Ausangate glacier towering above you (optional entry fee applies). We start the day early, heading to the village of Pacchanta at the base of the Ausangate glacier. The journey takes approximately 3.5 hours, passing through Andean villages and scenic landscapes.
08:30 a.m. | Traditional Breakfast in Pacchanta
Enjoy a hearty local breakfast prepared by a native family: bread, coca tea, eggs, fruit, and more. Hiking poles and rain ponchos can be rented here if needed.
09:00 a.m. | Begin the Trek to the 7 Lakes
The hike begins surrounded by alpacas, snow-capped mountains, and crisp mountain air. The loop lasts 4 to 5 hours, with stops at each lake for photos, rest, and explanations from your guide.

Is the altitude dangerous on a day trip like this?
It is a serious factor. You will be hiking above 4,700 meters, which is higher than the Inca Trail's highest pass. We strongly recommend that you have spent at least two days in Cusco before attempting this. The "moderate" difficulty rating assumes you are already adapted to the thin air; if you are fresh off the plane, this hike will feel extremely difficult.

What happens if the weather turns bad?
The weather at this altitude is unpredictable. You might start with sun and encounter hail or snow an hour later. This is part of the raw beauty of the high Andes.
