4:30 – 5:00 AM | Pickup from your hotel in Cusco
We left Cusco early in the morning, heading south to the department. Along the way, we crossed small Andean communities, agricultural fields, and high Andean landscapes.
7:30 am | Breakfast in Combapata or en route
We stop at a local restaurant for a traditional breakfast of hot tea, bread, eggs, fruit, and other local produce.
08:30 am | Visit to the Pampamarca, Acopia, Asnacocha and Pomacanchi Lagoons
En route to Q’eswachaka, we pass through the circuit of the four high Andean lagoons, where you can take spectacular photos of the natural surroundings and observe local fauna such as aquatic birds.
10:30 am | Arrival in Q’eswachaka – Visit of the Inca bridge
We arrived at Q’eswachaka , the last Inca suspension bridge made of plant fiber still in use. Made of ichu (Andean grass) and renovated annually by local communities, this bridge crosses the Apurímac River and is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Your guide will explain the construction process, the Quechua tradition that keeps it alive, and its historical and current function.
