We begin by exploring the impressive Pachacamac Sanctuary , one of the main religious centers on the Peruvian coast, where cultures such as the Lima, Wari, Ychsma, and Inca worshipped the creator god. Accompanied by an expert guide, we’ll tour its temples, pyramids, and museums, delving into a sacred landscape where the desert meets the sea.
Next, we’ll head to a beautiful traditional hacienda in the Lurín Valley , where we’ll enjoy a delicious Creole buffet lunch and experience a show featuring Peruvian Paso horses , renowned for their elegant, smooth, and rhythmic gait. The performance includes traditional dances, skilled horsemen, and the option to ride one of these noble horses.

Itinerary Pachacamac Ruins & Peruvian Paso Horse Show with Buffet Lunch
Between sacred ruins and living traditions
Starting at 10:00 am , we begin pickup from hotels in San Isidro, Miraflores, and Barranco . We leave the city behind and begin our journey south along the Pacific coast, heading for the Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary , one of the most important on the entire Andean coast.
Upon arrival, we first visit the Site Museum , where we’ll see original artifacts, ceramics, and textiles, and receive a detailed explanation of the Lima, Wari, Ychsma, and Inca cultures that inhabited this sacred site. Then, accompanied by our guide, we’ll tour the sanctuary’s main structures:
The Acllahuasi , residence of women consecrated to the cult of the Sun.
The Painted Temple , decorated with remains of ancient murals.
The Temple of the Sun, majestic and situated on a hill overlooking the ocean.
And of course , the Oracle of Pachacamac, the spiritual center that gave its name to the entire complex.
After this immersion in pre-Hispanic spirituality, we head to the heart of the Lurín Valley , where a traditional hacienda house awaits us , surrounded by gardens and stables.
Here, we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch featuring dishes representative of Creole cuisine. Then, the most festive part of our day begins: a show featuring Peruvian Paso horses , a breed unique in the world for its elegance, smoothness, and rhythm. We’ll watch the chalanes (traditional horsemen) harmoniously direct their horses while dancing to the rhythm of marineras , in a spectacle that unites tradition, music, and equestrian skill.
At the end, visitors who wish to do so can ride a Paso horse, guided by experts, as a special way to experience this tradition firsthand.

What makes the Peruvian Paso Horse unique?
Known as the "smoothest riding horse in the world," the Peruvian Paso Horse is a national treasure protected by law. Unlike other breeds that trot, this horse has a unique four-beat lateral gait called the paso llano. On our visit to a traditional hacienda in the Lurín Valley, you will witness their natural elegance and see how they seem to "dance" alongside their riders.
What is a "Chalán" and what role do they play in the show?
The Chalán is the traditional Peruvian horseman. Dressed in iconic white attire—including a wide-brimmed straw hat, a vicuña fiber poncho, and handmade leather boots—the Chalán demonstrates a deep, ancestral bond with the horse. The highlight of the show is the "Marinera on Horseback," where the Chalán and his horse perform Peru’s national courtship dance with a female dancer on the ground.
What kind of food is served at the hacienda buffet lunch?
After exploring the ruins, you will enjoy a premium buffet lunch in a beautiful countryside setting. The menu features authentic comida criolla (creole food), including favorites like Arroz con Pato (duck with rice), grilled meats, fresh salads from organic local farms, and traditional desserts. The meal is usually accompanied by live folklore music and a welcome Pisco Sour to start your feast.
Can I ride the horses at the end of the show?
Yes! Most of our hacienda visits offer a brief riding experience after the main exhibition. This is the perfect opportunity to personally feel the incredibly smooth gait of the Paso Horse.
