Detailed – Following the Footsteps of Faith in the City of Kings
Starting very early, between 7:50 am and 8:30 am , we begin our tour with pick-up from hotels located in Barranco, Miraflores and San Isidro , and head towards the historic center of Lima, the spiritual and colonial heart of the city.
Our walk begins with a visit to the Church and Shrine of Saint Rose of Lima , where the first saint of the Americas lived. Here we’ll explore her small room, her garden, and the famous «wishing well,» where the faithful still deposit their letters with spiritual requests.
A few steps away, we will find the modest House of San Martín de Porres , the first mixed-race saint on the continent and a symbol of humility and charity. We continue on to the Church of Las Nazarenas, a center of popular devotion and home to the image of the Lord of Miracles , the dark-skinned Christ, patron saint of Lima and protagonist of one of the largest religious processions in the world.
The walk then takes us to the Plaza Mayor , a space steeped in history where the city’s different periods converge: from its founding in 1535 to its current role as the republican capital. Here, your guide will reveal how religion has shaped Lima’s urban planning, architecture, and social life.
